Setting up Auditbase for Waiting List Prioritisation.

The clinical validation of diagnostic waiting lists project[1] will produce a clinically validated waiting list that allows diagnostic lists to run effectively, by:

• Prioritising access to procedures based on individual patient needs, while considering the need of the population.

• Facilitating good communication between the patient, GP and secondary care provider.

• Producing a validating waiting list that is up to date and that allows procedures to run effectively.

• Minimising waits where possible, but particularly for those with immediate need.

• Recognising that for less urgent or routine diagnostics, some patients may experience a delay

Auditbase can be set up to show the required prioritisation providing that a Referral is linked to a Waiting List entry.  Priority can then be included in a Waiting List export to CSV. Changes may need to be made in the System Administration tool and in Auditbase.  Alternatively, the Referral module directly can be used without using Waiting Lists.

System Administration

Medical Priority

The D1 – D6 codes need to be added to Client Scheduling -> Referral settings -> General and Auto linking -> Medical priority.

Waiting List settings

For each Waiting List, the option to display the medical priority must be selected in Client Scheduling -> Waiting list settings -> Waiting list types -> Display medical priority, outcome, clock action and breach date from linked referral on the main WL screen This must be selected for each individual waiting list where the priority needs to be shown.

Auditbase

With the above changes set, add a Medical priority to clients that have a Referral that is linked to a Waiting List.

Using Waiting Lists

Select the Waiting List and scroll to the right.  Medical priority will be seen.

For reporting purposes, the Waiting list can be exported as a .csv file which can be opened in Excel.  To do this, select Functions -> Export CSV from the waiting list module.  Enter a File name and Save.

Now open Excel and search for the file you have just saved, ensuring that you are looking for All files rather than just Excel files.

Using Referral overview without Waiting lists

If your site does not use waiting lists, the Referral overview can be used to display the Medical priority.  Go to Referral -> Referral overview and select a previously created Filter.  Scroll to the right and Medical priority will be shown.

For reporting purposes, the Referral overview can be exported as a .csv file which can be opened in Excel.  To do this, select Export to CSV from the Referral overview.  Enter a File name and Save.

Now open Excel and search for the file you have just saved, ensuring that you are looking for All files rather than just Excel files.
